Children’s Ministries

Children are one of our primary focuses at Canyon View Church. We implement annual teacher training, and a screening program to assure a safe and abuse-free environment for children. We strive to provide great care for God’s kids, to lead them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to equip them from an early age to live life with Christian values and a biblical worldview.

Church Nursery CareA well equipped nursery is available for infants and toddlers (through age 3) during the worship service. Workers are carefully screened and an adequate number are present based on the number of children in attendance.  Curriculum is offered for the 3 yr. olds. CVC also provides a “cry room” located above the Sanctuary for Parents to listen and view the Worship Service while taking care of your infants needs.

CVC offers Children’s Church during the regular worship service. Children from preschool (age 4) through age 12 join together for Bible stories using curriculum. The kids enjoy singing, games, and hilarious activities that emphasize the Bible point and verse. We even have snacks that, once again, bring the point of the story home to them. The kids are divided into age-appropriate groups for application, activities and discussion questions.

Leaders are carefully screened through an extensive application process. For more information, contact our Children and Family Ministry Team, Kristi Wheaton (406-363-8804) or Jana Wheaton (406-546-2658).

Childrens Ministry and VBSDuring the summer of 2009, CVC initiated our first Vacation Bible School for children from age 4 through grade 6. In August of 2015, we had a sports themed event entitled “Get in the Game”. Children were introduced to: Basketball, Soccer, Cheer Leading, Martial Arts, Baseball, Gymnastics and much more! We had talented coaches from the local high schools to come and lead workshops. On Friday, for our closing, we had a fun time of food and fellowship with over 250 people in attendance. 2016 Vacation Bible School was the first week of August and offered the “S’more of the Outdoors”. Monday-Friday from 9:15AM-12:00PM. Several children gave their hearts to Jesus and some followed by baptism in the Bitterroot River by Pastor Jon Sardella.

2018 Vacation Bible School will be the first week of August. Stay tuned for exact dates and times and theme.

For the past 5 years, Canyon View Church has had the opportunity to host  community family nights throughout the year, free of charge to anyone in Ravalli County. Treasure Quest Pirate Night, Around the World in 80 Minutes, and Under the Big Top Circus Carnival have been just a few of the themes chosen. These highly anticipated nights are filled with games, prizes, souvenirs, snacks, and fun!

“A Night in Bethlehem” was held on December 16th, 2016. At A Night in Bethlehem, kids and their families will explore the city at the time of Jesus’ birth. Through hands on experiences they’ll find out about the most important baby ever-and learn that Jesus came to save us.

Over the course of the last year, we have added several parenting seminars and events including “Praying Circles Around Your Children” and “The Love Dare for Parents” and “Parents Night Out” and Parent’s Picnic.

Club Serve is offered for Elementary Age Students. Club Serve teaches children the importance of serving our church and community.

In the spring of 2013, Canyon View Church added an entertainment patio to the west side of the building, which includes a  playground complete with slides, swings, bars, climbing apparatus, and so much more! The playground meets all national public playground standards and is enjoyed by children of all ages.

The patio also houses a barbeque and eating area, a fire pit, an adult swing set, and a volleyball net. We look forward to utilizing this family space for many years to come!
